Protecting & Regenerating Indigenous Mountain Forests for Fresh Water Globally

For all life upon planet Earth to exist and to have a continues existence, regardless of species or social status, fresh water is absolutely essential.

Active Remedy Ltd. is working on a program to help to mitigate the problems of Climate Change and Fresh Water shortages through Global Mountain Forest Restoration and Preservation.

Mountains, which are the mechanisms that regulate Earths’ Fresh Water and Cooling Systems are currently seriously destabilised.

This is related to massive deforestation, within the last 100 years (especially the last 50 years), in Mountain Regions, worldwide.

These indigenous high altitude forests are essential in order for these mechanisms to function effectively. Through precipitation they play a substantial role in the formation of Rain and Mountain Snows.

Repairing the Roof of the World

If we consider the Earth as our home in a similar way to which we might consider a great house with many floors and many rooms; then it is easy to understand the dangers that threaten the whole house, should the roof become destabilised. In this manner it would help us to consider all upon Earth above 3,000 feet altitude as the roof and all below as the body of the house. Related to the massive deforestation of indigenous forests and biodiversity in mountain regions globally, the roof of the World has become destabilised. This has largely taken place in the last 50 years. It endangers the sustainability for all life on Earth. The Roof of the World is integral in the regulation of Earths’ Fresh Water Cycle and Cooling System. Glaciers are fundamental for this. All around the World, Glaciers are melting. Thawing Glacial Lakes threaten the lives of millions and the fresh water supply of the World. For these systems to function efficiently indigenous Mountain Forests are essential. Only twenty years ago the brown hills in the above photo (taken in Uttaranchal, N. India in 2007) were covered in forest.

The Tibetan Plateau is of Significant Ecological Global Importance

Scientific evidence shows that the Tibetan Plateau, is the “starter” and “regulating area” of Climate Change in the Northern Hemisphere. It plays an important role in conserving water resources and controlling the Climate.
